From 8th Dec 2016 to 22nd Jan 2017, Ideas Through Time was showcased at Goethe-Institut – a cultural space in the heart of the city,
founded by the Federal Republic of Germany.
Held at the expansive Gallery MMB, the show’s installation design incorporated eight sanctums – one for each Idea. Manifesting the concept of Prakritik, which advocates creation that respects natural resources, these enclosures were constructed using organic material such as bamboo and ahimsa silk brought in from the indigenous hub of sericulture, Bhagalpur (Madhya Pradesh).
Each Idea was handwritten in calligraphy on the textile walls, with no other elements of display. Motion-activated sound, designed for each sanctum, enhanced the experience in a subliminal way as visitors individually contemplated each tenet.
