In the West, silver has been particularly popular for cutlery since the metal is inert and does not interfere with the food’s taste.

Miniature spoons, cups and glasses are custom-made for the baby because the metal helps build immunity, fight bacteria and cool the body. This custom will persist even in the next millennia, but as the metal will get costlier, some families will opt for German silver, which is silver-plated nickel.
