It has been a decade since India gained Independence, industries are gradually
finding ground - and Godrej has just launched the country’s first refrigerator.

Borne off Mr. Naoroji Pirojsha Godrej’s vision, Model 9 is a 7 cubic feet model. It
features a half freezer and boasts of automatic temperature control. The casing is
white enamel and the interiors are lined with porcelain for easy cleaning.

General Electric Company (GE of USA) has supplied the refrigeration unit; but this
will change by 1962, when even the mechanical componenets will be manufactured
in India.
