In the 1950s, radio manufacturers gradually shifted their focus from stylistic
features and began improving upon the acoustic quality of sets. This marked
the beginning of radios with multiple sound outlets. Additional speakers
afforded '3D sound' or High Fidelity sound that was richer than mono relay.
The displayed bakelite model is typical of its decade, when wide sets with two
speakers on either side became fashionable. This radio features extra sockets
for tape recorders and other devices that could be linked and played through
its speakers.
