Maharaja Sardar Singhji was an ardent musician and greatly enjoyed playing
the Rag Malhar. For this reason, he decided to recreate the vibrancy of
monsoons in the Badal Mahal or ‘Palace of Clouds’. Blue forms the base of the
surface over which white and grey clouds have been painted, and thunder
lightning is depicted in gold.
